Jim's trach was changed today to a smaller size. The change itself went very well & then I asked what the next step will be. The Doc said this is it for now that Jim will need the trach for a few weeks or months, maybe permanently. He is in no hurry to wean him off the trach due to the large amount of secretions Jim has & the weakness of his cough & muscles. The trach is for access to the lungs for suctioning, not for breathing any longer. I like this doc & respect what he has to say as does Jim.
The Respiratory Therapists are now on "order" to check with Jim hourly to see if they can help him cough using the cough assist technique. I was taught this at Osborn & have been using it a lot. It does help Jim cough better.
When I left tonight his temp was 100.8 again. Don't know where this is coming from.
I had a hard day today, feeling blue & sad. When I got to the hospital Jim & I had a good cry together, then Jim prayed for me & himself as I am sobbing on his chest. I remain amazed at his strength, his faith & his patience. I am strengthened by his strength. I only share these things so you will know that we suffer, we cry, we miss each other BUT we know our God is good & His plans & ways are far above ours. Tonight I had the opportunity to speak with another patient, a young man, and shared my faith with him & then he met Jim, too. I will not reveal his name but God knows him, so pray for him, also. He needs the Lord in his life.
Pray for the temp, coughing, swallowing and that Jim will be accepted in Rehab. And, praise God from whom all blessings flow ,Amen.

Marilyn , again I just wanted to offer my assistance with anything that I can.I read that some of Jims subs had called for him,If there is any way I can help keep things going for Jims business I hope you would call.I can get quotes,bids,do his sales taxes.If we can keep some work coming in I would love to do that for the two of you.
