Tuesday July 8 Special Prayer Need
08 July 08 - 05:35
Jim had a bit of a setback yesterday. When I arrived I knew right away something wasn't right. For one, he was on a trach collar instead of nasal Oxygen. When he is on a collar, his trach is unplugged & he cannot speak without me placing my finger over the trach opening. Second, he did not look right, looked very tired. He said he was too dried out from the nasal oxygen & could not clear his throat. His Oxygen Sat level kept dropping into the 80's even on 40% O2. He coughed & coughed, with & without assist, but he continued to complain of "something there"; various things were tried with no success. When his Pulmonary Doc came in, he, too, said Jim wasn't looking well. Jim was also irritable & nothing was right for him. He ran a bit of a temp at 99.9.
The doctor decided to do a bronchoscopy, where a fiber optic cable is put into his lungs, fluid is introduced & suctioned out. This was done about 6 PM or so. Afterwards, Doctor K. said there really wasn't much there - Praise God! - but he did take a culture. They never get out all the fluids they put in, so it took about 2 hours of suctioning & coughing until he began to settle down. Jim was discouraged by all this. He kept asking "What Now!" . We will change his protocol, and he will have more time with the collar & the trach plugged to receive humidity.
I have always known that the lungs and pneumonia are a potential serious problem. I must have written about that here in the blog. Jim is really doing a superb job of bringing up his secretions, considering the problems he has. It is our hope that when he gets to Rehab & is up & his body is moving more, some of these acute problems will ease up.
About Rehab. Ths case manager from our insurance company is coming to Promise to review his records Tuesday or Wednesday, will then talk with the Medical Director at the insurance & she said she doesn't see a problem with him going to Rehab. Thanks be to God for hearing our prayers! Thank you for praying for us. This will mean so much to Jim! Remember, he must be medically stable, so pray that there is no infection in the lungs or anywhere else. I called the hospital this morning & was told he had a good night.
Thank you for your continued prayers on Jim's behalf.

I don’t know Jim, but Bill (from Kreation Krawlers) made the connection to this blog possible. I have my whole church praying for Jim. The Lord is closer to you both than ever. Trust in Him.

It’s been years since I’ve seen either of you (you lived in Columbus); I wonder if you even remember me.
Jim II called me on his way to AZ on the Friday following the accident. He told me about this blog last night; now I’ve read every post. Sad tears have flowed down my cheeks, but my heart has swelled with joy. God is at work here. He is with you.
This blog is a powerful witness.
My heart goes out to you and you are in my prayers.
—————Psalm 40 1:3—————-
I waited patiently for the Lord to help me,
And he turned to me and heard my cry.
He lifted me out of the pit of despair, out of the mud and the mire.
He set my feet on solid ground and steadied me as I walked along.
He has given me a new song to sing, a hymn of praise to our God.
Many will see what he has done and be astounded.
They will put their trust in the Lord. –
May God heal you Jim, may He bless you and your family
