Wednesday Morning July 23

Jim is doing well. No more blood sugar problems, coughing remains about the same. There was an incident on Monday when I was feeding him that he choked - bad. I had to help him clear his throat by doing a cough assist. What it was, he was eating fish, and he had a similar problem with the white meat of chicken, and it was just too dry for him to swallow completely and it stuck in his throat. The choking episode was very frightening to him - and me too. After much discussion with the Speech Therapist, it was decided to leave his diet the same but add more gravies & sauces so his food is kept wet. This seems to be working. He is also taking smaller bites & drinking lots of fluids to swallow.
I begin today meeting with the Nurse Educator to learn how to take care of Jim's personal needs. There is much for me to learn! Please pray for physical strenght & ability for me.
Now the big news. I contacted the people Kaye suggested & they are working with me to procure the things Jim needs - bed, lift, various equipment, maybe even a chair! I cna't begin to tell you how my heart was overflowing with thanksgiving! While this is great & wonderful, the best was when Mr Widger prayed for me over the phone. I KNOW the Holy Spirit was directing his prayer. He prayed for exactly what I needed - my anxiety, my feelings of being overwhelmed, my need to let the Body of Christ come alongside to help me, and so many other things! Even if he had not been able to help us, the prayer would have been enough. Kaye's other friend, Judy, said her husband & his friend may be able to build the ramps we need. And my friend Judy let me know how she is trying to help me sell the piano - something I wanted to ask her to do, but did not. Do you see how God works? He works in spite of our procrastinations & pride & fears. I hated to ask Judy to take time out of her busy schedule or go out of her way to help me. But God knew my need, placed that need on her heart & she responded immediately without even asking me.
There have been many instances like this of friends, church members, people I don't even know who have met our needs. This is so humbling but also so awe-inspiring to see God at work. There are so many of you who, I am told, read this blog & pray for us every day. Your prayers have been, are being & will be answered. God already promised to take care of us. He already promised to be with us. He just wants to hear our prayers, have us reach out to Him & thank Him for all He does.
Heavenly Father, my heart is full of thanksgiving to You for all You are doing in my life, in Jim's life & the lives of those around us. Jim & I praise You in the midst of this storm in our life. We thank You that You have been right here with us through this from the very moment, oh, even before I knew what had happened. How foolish I am to worry that You, mighty Creator of the universe, can not take care of Jim & me. Oh, Father, I ask that You touch Jim in a special healing way. That nerves will heal, that limbs will move. But more than anything, Father, I pray that You continue Your work in our lives. That You continue to bind Jim & I even closer to You and to each other. That You give both of us Your strength to meet each day. Bring people into to our lives that we may share what You have done through Your Son, Jesus. May all who are around us know that we belong to You. May You be glorified, Your Son exemplified, Your Spirit our ever present guide through the days ahead. Amen
If you feel so lead, I would love to read your prayers for us.
Rom 15:30 Now I beg you, brethren, through the Lord Jesus Christ, and through the love of the Spirit, that you strive together with me in prayers to God for me
1 Peter 3:12 For the eyes of the LORD are on the righteous, And His ears are open to their prayers ; But the face of the LORD is against those who do evil."
1 Tim 2:8 I desire therefore that the men pray everywhere, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting;
Col 1:9-12 For this reason we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;
10 that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God;
11 strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power, for all patience and longsuffering with joy;
12 giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light.
