It was such a nice surprise to log-in & see that this blog is still being read! Thank You to all who continue to pray for us & read this blog when I find time to update. I am allowing myself 25 minutes this morning to do this before I start getting ready for work.
I think I will work backwards because my memory is much better for the near past and the far past than it is for a month ago. Last night I was so tired & sleepy from not getting enough sleep the night before. I had fallen asleep in the chair but knew I needed to get Jim back to bed, so I roused myself & got started on the process: 1)Get his bed turned on, bed items arranged correctly, bed pulled out from wall. 2) Make sure his chair is positioned so I can easily get around all sides 3) Remove the tray, the headrest 4) Get the Hoyer in position and attach the Hoyer to the straps on the sling 5) Begin pumping the Hoyer 6) Continue pumping - but what is the problem? Check the side edges of the sling to see if they are caught - Nope - pump some more 7) Why is Jim coughing, spazing & moaning? He doesn't usually do this until he hits the bed? 8) Pump some more but something is really not right 9) Discover I missed a step - unbuckle the seat belt. Needless to say, I was crushed that I might have injured him in some way, for I was pumping away. I got the belt unlatched - he popped up quick, then - swung him around and into bed. When I checled his abdomen he had a mark from side-to-side from the belt. You by now know my response - I cried, hugged him & asked if he was OK. He could not feel anything, of course, so he said he was allright. I am sure this will not happen again!
On Monday we went to the Neurologist, first visit. Miles borrowed Steve's van and we left the house in good time to get there. On the first turn - left - from the house, Jim said , "I have a problem." We looked back at him and his whole upper body was hanging over the side of the chair! Poor, Miles. I knew Jim was Okay, but I wasn't sure about Miles for a bit. The way you feel when something like the seat belt or the van ride happens is similar to how you would feel f you dropped your infant. Miles got him strapped withan accessorry strap and we got on our way again. The doctor found some nerve responses in Jim's fingers - more on the right than the left. We were excited about that! But the best was, after the visit we went out to a Chinese buffet & Jim ate. At first he was resistant, saying he wasn't hungry, then agreed to go so Miles & I could eat. But nce we got there, & he smelled his favorite food of all, he changed his mind. Tracey, Miles wife, joined us & it was so NORMAL. Doing what we had always done in the place we would choose first!
My time is up & I have to get ready for work. I will add more this weekend.
God continues to bless us with His Presence, Provision, Grace & Mercy. Marilyn

Hi Marilyn… Marilyn, I check everyday to see if you just drop a line to let us all know the struggles and the love you have for your husband, Jim. It was to good to see you the day we had lunch with Martha… I am so humbled by you and how you take care of Jim, work and the love you give to all. It comes thru in your writings. There is a God and he will give Jim a healing, in what way I do not know but he will…... Please call me so I can help you, and I truly mean it. 480-926-2920… If I am not at home leave me a message and I will call you back. Love Jan

Marilyn –
Of course we are still reading this blog! I am so glad that you still keep us informed on Jim’s progress – and that is such major progress! Nerve responses in his fingers is MAJOR and an answer to prayer! I continue to check your blog and to pray. Don’t ever think that you are alone – we are praying!

Marilyn,
We continue to think of both you and Jim and our prayers are with you. It is good news to hear about the nerves responding in Jim’s fingers. We pray that he will continue to have nerve responses in his entire body as that is a sign of progress. We love you both.
